Hello everyone!
I just recently enrolled in Excelsior's BS Marketing program and was wondering if I could (and should) use an old & ancient college Algebra class to satisfy the math requirement. My first problem is this class was graded a "D" and wasn't sure if the advisors would want to include this class towards credit. My other problem is that having taken the class way back then, I'm not so confident today I could tackle the CLEP Algebra exam even if I prepared for it. What are your thoughts and opinons about my problem?
Thanks much in advance,

A "C" grade is usually the lowest that EC will accept. As for passing math, I FINALLY did it and I know you will too!

The Clep is more on concepts as opposed to complicated problems. Just understand the collegeboard questions. The hardest thing for me was time. Its not that bad.

I certainly wish I had the brain cells I did moons ago. Better yet I wish I took that CLEP many moons ago as well. But, in any way I'll study hard, give it my best shot and see what happens. Thank you all for the encouragement!!

You may want to consider taking college math (Clep) instead of College Algebra - that's what I did and it was passable even though my last math classes were way long ago. And since it's pass/fail rather than graded (like college algebra) it won't hurt your GPA if you barely pass. Good Luck!

If the degree is business with a focus on marketing it will need to be pre-calc or higher. I got lucky and they accepted a Linear math class from 20 years ago as acceptable. It was originally just accepted as other credit. I did a search for classes the satisfy the requirement. Found one with an almost identical description and got reevaluated. No more math. Unless you count Statistics, Accounting, Finance, Money and Banking...........
Long story short. Always check with an advisor and get it in writing!
Good Luck!
