Hello all,
I was looking on Google for online options of accredited psychology MA or PHDs.
I am currently conditionally accepted for City University of Seattle's Masters of Counselling Psychology program beginning Oct/22 that would prepare me to become a psychologist in my province. However, it is an expensive American private school and my heart isn't 100% in it; I will attend this Fall if I do not find an alternative plan. One of the attractive parts about this program is it does not require extensive knowledge in statistics or research as it is focused on creating a practical and functional practitioner. I struggled with maths and statistics my entire life and didn't have opportunities to get tutoring, but I am not turned off from taking courses in these subjects to strengthen my skills. However, if I do get tutored I know I could do well. I do have an MA in philosophy, however, I did not conduct scientific research. It was written with the type of research that is done when you read the primary source and interpret it using personal and secondary source accounts. No experiments were conducted.
About my passions or interests: when I grow up I'd like to be able to teach people about the human condition and share research to help them learn about, and help themselves. I can see my self as some sort of instructor or teacher to adults. I also am a great listener and am deeply compassionate and caring about others and for those reasons I am interested in becoming a counselling psychologist. I would get to share my unconditional positive regard and the evidence backed therapeutic interventions to help people help themselves.
Some info about me:
My Location: Alberta Canada
My Age: 32
What kind of degree do I want?: MA or PHD in psychology
Completed education:
University of Leuven (KUL, Belgium), MA Philosophy - conferred in 2014
Mount Royal University (Canada), BA Psychology, Philosophy - conferred in 2012
I thank you in advance for any guidance.
