UMPI Gen Ed Question

I'm finally looking at UMPI and seeing how there system is different than the other options in this space. 

They have a generic Gen Ed curriculum with 5 categories of learning, and several "objectives" each. 

At the beginning of the list, I was thinking each course listed was required. As I progressed 1/3 down the list, I realized that was way too many classes. The little blurb at the top of the page doesn't explain this. So here's my question:

In each objective, just one of the listed courses is required?

(And that includes the consideration that somes courses can pull double-duty and fill requirements for two objectives.)

One course required and many courses fulfill more than one requirement. You need a total of 40 credits for the general education requirements.

Sophia: Communication at Work fulfills 1C
Sophia: Intro to Ethics fulfills 2A/2B/4C/4D

CLEP Natural Science fulfills: 3C

And then, let's just say I or somebody else was able to do it with just 40 credits. Surely that 40, and then the BA/BS requirements (meaning the reqs for, let's say, Business Admin degree) wouldn't be enough credits. That might equal 100 credits. So would the applicant just pick electives to fill in the other 20, to get to 120 credits?

You must take at least 30 credits at UMPI as the residency requirement.

Basically, I would review the UMPI WIKI link above, then decide on the Bachelors of choice and create a spreadsheet of the requirements... You've go the link to general education and the specific degree plans, you can have a spreadsheet created and compare/verify the requirements online with the YourPace website details.

A BA degree in any field is basically 120 credits, give or take. The first 2 "years" are mostly Gen Eds, and equal 60 credits. The second half is another 60 of specialized classes. This is how most degrees are broken down.

Now if UMPI let's you escape the first half of that with 40 credits (instead of 60), and then you do the other 60. You now have a Bachelor's Degree for 100 credits? That can't be true, so I'm asking, in that case, what would a person do to make up the remaining 20 credits? Electives?

Some colleges such as WGU don't have any electives.  Some colleges may require higher major requirements.

Thanks for thast link. I'd seen one of the other degree plans there but didn't realize there was one for Businesds / Marketing.
