UMPI plan
#1
I would like to attend UMPI or WGU but I am open to anywhere that is accredited. I eventually want to do my masters (Most likely at WGU), but want the easiest route to a bachelors first to open up opportunities at work. I would like an evaluation and the easiest path going forward to get my degree and if someone could please tell me what I am missing to maximize transfers the easiest way possible.

Thank you,

Your Location: California, United States.

What kind of degree do you want?: Business management and leadership
Current Regional Accredited Credits: Break apart by school for ease of reading. Regional means the school has a regional accrediation. If you don't have any, that's okay leave it blank!

UMPI does seem like a good choice for both speed and affordability: You can likely be done in 2-3 sessions of 8 weeks each ($3k to $4.5k). Important note: You must take a minimum of 10 classes (30 credits) at UMPI and you want to maximize your transfer credits - typically board members recommend concentrating on one provider at a time. At a glance, you still need a science with a lab (like Human Biology and Human Biology Lab on Sophia) and a foreign language (like Spanish or French on Sophia).

You have a good chunk of credits already, so you likely have a shorter road to hitting your target than most. You could do the BABA with a concentration in project management or management and leadership. Alternatively, you could do a BLS with a couple of minors, which would maximize your available space for elective credit.

Working with credits from Sophia/Study dot com and possibly adding something like the Google PM certificate on Coursera, you can build up to the 90 credit limit into the degree plan, but there is no overall max of transfer credits - additional minors can be added with transfer credit.

With the availability of tuition reimbursement, you could also look at getting the Masters of Organizational Leadership at UMPI, the MBA or MSML at WGU or the HAU MBA for $3K.

UMPI MAOL
You could consider doing 3 classes in Business Administration towards the MAOL at UMPI. Undergrad classes that can be taken to speed the UMPI MAOL from 12 classes to 9 classes:
  • OLS 550 Team Leadership and Collaboration is subbed by BUS 335 Organizational Behavior
  • OLS 610 Leadership and Business Operations is subbed by BUS 440 Business Analytics
  • OLS 620 Strategic Communications is subbed by BUS 469 Strategic Professional Communication

You're the Process Technology person! Awesome... Link: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...-on-resume
I would do pretty much what was recommended, since you're going the Pierpont BOG AAS, you can take some classes towards IT/PM, etc, and get the UMPI BAS instead, you can add 40+ technical credits if they do not accept those Process Technology ones as Technical, or if you need extra credits for that. I think it's better for the BAS than the BLS or any other degree they offer, you can also ladder that up by taking 3-4 classes that go towards the MAOL, and complete the remaining classes for the MAOL instead of going to WGU.

Also, Nancy said I should be able to get an emphasis in applied process technology, but won't know until she does my degree audit

When they do an initial audit, they'll tell you what your emphasis is going to be, there isn't really a default of business or general studies or anything remotely similar. They'll see if your Process Technology can be an emphasis, but as I looked into it earlier in your previous thread, I couldn't find anything except for "Energy" with one class. They just need 1 class and the emphasis showing on the catalog before they can grant that emphasis. You can always see what they give you, but doing the BAS is slightly more flexible than the BLS, you can also have the Coursera/TEEX/Sophia.org classes that deal with IT all go into the 60 credits required for the electives, you get to hit the certs, degree, and gain some experience in Business, IT/PM, etc.
