University of the Cumberlands
#11
One thing I can say about the University of Cumberlands is it was very tempting. They have a very active Facebook group for the PhD and they're all super friendly with success stories, and a strong community helping others.

Their graduate programs are very affordable and classes are reasonable for individuals who are not religious, I don't recall reviews mentioning too much focus on religion. I don't recall where, but I read about their Plagiarism policy, they give 3 strikes or something to the like of that, a professor there mentioned he's given people a couple strikes before for plagiarism.

Yes. If they offered a mscs I would probably jump on it.

Anyone have any thoughts on this :

https://www.ucumberlands.edu/academics/g...quirements

Maybe compared to :

https://www.eastern.edu/academics/gradua...ta-science

Both are roughly the same price.

Dustin on the sister board degreeinfo has written extensively about his MS in DS from Eastern (and now writes about his PhD in IT in progress with Cumberlands).

Thanks ! I knew Dustin graduated from the Eastern University MSDS program. I’ve read through his threads a while back. I didn’t realize he was in the PHD program at Cumberlands. I will read it.

Dustin if you’re still peeking in on us some. What school would you recommend?

Hi pats20,

The UC curriculum looks better than the Eastern content for more machine learning specifically. I really liked CodeGrade used for code assessments in Eastern though. Eastern had no mandatory discussion boards and if UC did, I wouldn't like that.

Eastern has two R courses while UC only has one, so if you want to get more into that language you should go to Eastern.

Either way I think you'll get a good overview of the fundamentals.

Good luck!
