Feedback please for EC General Business :)
#1
Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone would be so kind as to give me some feedback on my plan. I just received my unofficial evaluation and the following is what I need:

6.5 Arts & Sciences ... I am sure I can figure something out with clep/dsst
3 Written English - My local cc
3 Math above precalc - Clep college algebra

Business Component

3 Intro. to US Bus. Law - Clep or Dsst Business Law
3 Managerial Acct. - Penn Foster Managerial Account.
3 Financial Management - Dsst Principles of Finance
3 Prod/Op Management - CSU Pueblo
3 Business Policy - EC
3 Ethics - Clep or Dsst Ethics

Will this work? Will I actually be a college graduate after 20 some years of a class here and a class there ??

Thanks so much for your time!

Your plan looks good.

Here's a few options to what you've have written down, just throwing these out.
  • You can use ALEKs to get the math requirement done instead of taking the CLEP.

  • If you're good at writing already, you could use the UExcel College Writing exam to knock the Written English Requirement out (if they offer it your area.)

  • Another option that springs to mind is that you can do the two Acct through Straighterline as well.

Good luck!
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

Thanks for the feedback! I was actually just looking into the UExcel writing class and will give that a shot. I have seen "straighterline" being thrown around but am not familiar with them. I will do a search and see what I come up with.

Thanks Again!

Looks like you have it, with TMW's comments. Ethics is a DSST, there are two to choose from.

I engaged in a rather extensive monologue of my experiences with the UExcel test here, if you're interested in what to expect.

I have a question about this part. This says "Math above precalc". Doesn't that mean Calculus? I thought Business majors were allowed to take PreCalc to meet their math requirement.

Even though I plan to be a math major, I'm not sure what the order of each level of math is below Calculus. Is it College Algebra, then Trigonometry, then PreCalc, then Calculus? What level is Statistics compared to PreCalc?

I should have stated precalculus or above. I actually had the same question as you, I am assuming College Algebra will work but you know what happens when you assume!

Anyone know for sure??

I'm not a business major, I do not play one on tv, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

But...
If I recall correctly, EC takes at *least* Trig and above as Precalc. I think they'll accept College Algebra w/ Trig from ALEKs to cover the Precalc requirement.

Of course, you'll want to follow up directly with admissions on that, though.

I was approved for plain ol' College Algebra via ALEKS.

Nice action... And there you have it.

(But I will mention, that if you can stomach it, and you're going through ALEKs, Trig has about 1/3-1/2 the amount of modules that ALEKS College Alg has, so it can be quick and easy... Like I said, if you can handle the trig stuff.. Right around 60% it starts getting ugly with some of the modules you have to do.)
