Urgent Help Needed: Am I Missing Out on a Double Degree or Associate Degree at TESU?

(06-28-2024, 08:30 PM)bjcheung77 Wrote: Your academic advisor isn't correct with that as the link already indicates you can have simultaneous associates as long as you have 'different' credits in the associates area of study.  AA vs ASBA vs AS all have a different area of study, and is a different degree as well.  Thus, you need to highlight what is mentioned below in the link you provided... So, grab an AA, AS, ASBA (two of the three), it won't really matter which one you want, and add the certs you would like as well.

First Simultaneous Associate or Baccalaureate Degrees

Students who desire to have two different Thomas Edison State University baccalaureate degrees awarded in the same graduation cycle may do so providing 24 credits are different in the second degree's core/area of study. In addition, all requirements for both degrees must be satisfied.

Students who desire to have two different Thomas Edison State University associate degrees awarded in the same graduation cycle may do so providing 12 credits that are different in the second degree's option. In addition, all requirements for both degrees must be satisfied.

In both cases, the degrees earned must be different degrees, not just a different/additional area of study. For one degree with two areas of study/options, refer to the Two Areas of Study within One Degree policy.

How about?
  • BSBA in Finance

  • AS in Computer Science

  • AA in General Studies

  • Certificate in Finance

After this, what's next? How about next degree, any write-up on Masters anywhere here?

So theoretically if I have enough credits to get two bachelor's degrees at TESU, do you have to pay the residency waiver twice or just once and then do the capstones? I am just super not familar with the way they do things and wondered.  If it is just one waiver fee for both of the degrees, I may apply and get everything transferred in and do the capstones. I don't need the additional bachelor's but I may do them just the same.
How much is the waiver fee anyhow?

Thanks for everyone's patience as I ask a million questions again to those that know more about these schools and how to manipulate them into more degrees on the wall.

I need ECO-4900, International Economics, for the CERT program. Advising informed me that FIN-340, International Finance, from Study.com, won't fulfill the requirement. Could you please suggest any alternatives?

You do the two capstones and then pay for one waiver fee when you're ready to graduate. Having said that, you may want to investigate doing the 15 credits instead if you have tuition assistance or reimbursement from work. Example, both capstones and three E-Packs (upper-level credit exams) for a flat rate fee.

Capstone Tuition, $556x3 = $1668, both would be $3336
Residency Waiver Fee: $3,354
Flat Term Rate Fee: $4,428

For alternative credit, there isn't one from the usual providers. You'll need to either complete this at TESU or another university and transfer that in, I don't think TESU takes NA credits, but from the looks of the previous posts, they seem to be lenient on that front now, I would ask to make sure, this opens more doors for cheaper credit... Last but not least, you can take the ENEB combo, have it evaluated, then transfer it in...
