Has anyone with a large number of CLEP/DANTES credits been refused admission into any of the big three because you were too young? Are any of the three easier to work with if you are younger than traditional age?
Thanks,
Mark

In this year's EC commencement video, it was said the youngest graduate of the year was 18.

I can't look it up right now, but I am pretty sure TESC and CO require you be 21 years or older for admissions. I recall because a book I read spoke of teens attending the big 3, but I am pretty sure that has changed. I know for sure Charter Oak requires you to be 21 (I called them last year).

Charter Oak's minimum age is 16. Below is what is copied from their website.
'Applicants must be 16 year of age or older, and possess a minimum of 9 acceptable college-level credits.'
Go to the websites of COSC,Excelsior, and Thomas Edison for admission info. That way you know its accurate.

I don't know about the others, but TESC let my wife in despite the "21 or older" requirement (she's 19). And if you read their catalog carefully, it does state that it's a college for adults, 21 or older (I forget where, but it's not terribly obvious). At first, she was simply denied admission. I called spoke to the dean of admissions, some vice president person, and someone else before the dean relented. They weren't going to and I thought she'd have to wait when I mentioned that she already had close to 90 credits via CLEP and other sources. As soon as the dean heard that her tune completely changed. She was like, "Oh, well, that's a different case. She's already proved that she's ready for college. Why didn't you state that on the application?" I was pretty sure that we did, but I didn't press the point. So apparently, like in most areas, there is a loophole here. If you already have a certain number of credits, you can get in even if you're younger than the age listed in the catalog. But you may have to fight for it. So she's graduating in September with a BA at the age of 19. Pretty sweet.
I'm an engineer. Go figure.

I found where the official minimum age for COSC was 16 and for TESC 21, but I couldn't find anything official for Excelsior. Anybody have a link for that? I know of many students working with College Plus intending to get degrees from TESC before they are 21. I wonder if they have a special working relationship that allows for the age exception? My dad is coaching me and we are trying to do it on our own without College Plus. We are trying to pick the degree plan to follow.
