Not a bad program!

You lose basically all of the certifications from the IT program, but that makes enough sense. CS doesn't automatically imply IT career, so for many students those would be a waste of time.

With the ability to transfer in the Gen Ed's and some of the major courses inexpensively, this degree could be MUCH less expensive than the TESU CS degree, where it's hard to find some of these courses for less than $1000 each.

It all comes down to how many major courses you can transfer in, and how fast a student can work through the rest of the courses. It could be a much better choice than TESU for an experienced developer looking to fill in their degree.
NanoDegree: Intro to Self-Driving Cars (2019)
Coursera: Stanford Machine Learning (2019)
TESU: BA in Comp Sci (2016)
TECEP:Env Ethics (2015); TESU PLA:Software Eng, Computer Arch, C++, Advanced C++, Data Struct (2015); TESU Courses:Capstone, Database Mngmnt Sys, Op Sys, Artificial Intel, Discrete Math, Intro to Portfolio Dev, Intro PLA (2014-16); DSST:Anthro, Pers Fin, Astronomy (2014); CLEP:Intro to Soc (2014); Saylor.org:Intro to Computers (2014); CC: 69 units (1980-88)

How many of the courses could be transferred in? Are the WGU courses self paced?

I think most WGU degrees, because their Gen Ed's are a smaller percentage of the degree, are a much better degree than a lot of the Big 3 degrees. WGU's GE's are roughly 25-30%, instead of the 55%+ for TESU degrees (the BSBA requires 54 units in the major, the BA in CS only requires 39, for instance).

Of course, you're limited on what kinds of degrees you can get there, but for comparable degrees, especially in IT, it's just a better way to go.

I'm not saying the Big 3 degrees are worthless or anything, and for someone who has a lot of credits to bring in, you may find a degree that's a better fit for what you've already studied (I fall into this category). WGU has no BALS degree, and I'm actually surprised they don't (they could easily throw one out there).

Another twist to it: could one enroll for 1 term at WGU, do a number of classes (AI, discrete math etc) there and then bring them into TESU to graduate from TESU? Cheaper than a la carte elsewhere (possibly) and than the comprehensive tuition plan at TESU.

Since its not official, things can change. But I did find where the following two courses reference being used for certification prep.

Web Development Foundations:  This course prepares students for the CIW Site Development Associate certification.
Business of IT - Project Management :   This course prepares students for the following certification exam: CompTIA Project+.

All-in-all, looks like a solid program!! Super excited!!

Why wouldn't you just get the degree from WGU?
