WGU MS Information Technology Management
#21
I'm currently enrolled in this degree program and have some updates.

Please note: This is not the order the courses are completed. My mentor selects my next course. I do not get a choice. I don't know if all mentors work this way or it's WGU policy. I know WGU has come down on letting students make choices. This may be more prevalent in the grad programs than the undergrad.

In many of the courses, you do not need to wait until you pass the first task to submit the next one. In some programs that is an issue and causes a great deal of delays.

C954 - Information Technology Management - 1 OA

C948 - Technical Communication - 1 PA with 2 tasks

LZT2 - Power, Influence and Leadership - 1 PA with 2 tasks

C928 - Financial Management for IT Professionals - 1 PA with 2 tasks

C927 - Managing Technology Operations and Innovation - 1 PA with 2 tasks

MBT2 - Technological Globalization - 1 PA with 1 task

C929 - IT Sourcing and Development in a Global Economy - 1 PA with 1 task

C962 - Current and Emerging Technology - 1 PA with 1 task

C783 - Project Management - 1 OA with optional CAPM Exam Prep and voucher to take CAPM exam - CAPM exam is no longer a requirement

C498 - MS, Information Technology Management Capstone - 1 PA with 3 tasks

So far, the course instructions provide a lot of info about each task and what the evaluators are looking for. This was not my experience in my original master's program at WGU. Within a few hours of a course opening, I get a long email with numerous attachments from my Course Instructor. The cohort videos are all prerecorded so I don't have to schedule them late at night a few weeks out like my last program.

Many students have reported similar experiences recently. For my BSCC (last year) I was able to reorder courses however I wanted. Mostly I created my own degree plans and asked my mentor to approve. For the new MSCSIA, there are only two courses without prerequisites. I was able to take those out of order, although my mentor had to get approval from his supervisor, but it's still possible.

I am not able to reorder any of my courses. My mentor brings in my next class. None of the courses in this master's have prereqs. Project Management is your last class. She said it's everyone's last class so that you can have time to study for the CAPM exam then complete the Capstone which does make sense. I'm not worried about what order the classes are in. I know some people really get upset if they can't control which class they take. I'm taking all of them at some point so whatever is my attitude.
