Ways to get Upper Level credits
#1
I think a lot of us on here, especially me, would like to have a thread completely dedicated to the creative or maybe unheard of ways to get UL credit.

Anybody can take the easy Lower Level CLEPS/DSSTs and get a whole bunch of credit - but once it gets to the part where you need the 30 ULs, thats where you start struggling on where and how you're gonna get em.

If anybody has any ideas or did something to get UL credit, let us know.

I know that TESC accepts a lot of LL DSSTs and even a few CLEPs as 300+ courses so if youre goin to TESC, it shouldnt be as big of an issue.

Also there are ECE exams.
The ALEKS Intro to Stats course is counted as UL at Excelsior.
And LSU courses offers 300+ (UL) independent self-paced courses.

What else can you add to this list?

This list is super helpful. http://www.charteroak.edu/Current/Academ...r-list.pdf I have a paper copy of it and it's tattered, torn and coffee-stained. It lists exams that COSC suggests along with the level. Keep in mind that this may not be identical at the other schools and there are exams not on this list. Also, COSC lists the GRE and from what I understand, the others won't give GRE credits anymore.

It's worth a look anyhow to get a quick glance at the UL exams.

what TESC considers to be upper level is different than what Excelsior considers to be upper level and COSC to be upper level.
TESC was considerably easier when it counted 200 as upper level, but now it's only 300 and 400 as upper level. In the charter oak you'll see civil war listed as upper level but at TESC it is 200 level.

Did I miss it in your post? Several DSSTs are UL.

Colorado State University-Pueblo > Independent Study is a good source for UL self-paced courses.

Link for BYU's course offerings

BYU Independent Study - University Courses - English

Seems many of these have book requirements that are less than I normally see. If you select a course with cheap books the $450 cost of the course becomes more attractive. Still hard to beat the cost of the LSU courses right now though.
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010

I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this).  Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.
