Web Design Degree
#1
Ok, calling all my friends I need help finding an online / testing out web page degree for my daughter. She is going to go to art school, but I want her to get a backup degree and she is interested in web page design, especially the coding side. Is there a quick online degree for this? She wants to test out of as much as possible and finish the rest online. This is outside my wheelhouse, so I'm reaching out to those of you with experience in this area. Thanks in advance for your help!

Is she wanting an associates degree, bachelors degree, certificate? Define "quick" - how much time is she wanting to devote to this?

She has all her time to devote right now. She would like to get an Associates between now and August if she can swing it. If she can do a BA or BS that would be preferred. She is good with online courses and finished HS ranked 3rd in her class so academics are not an issue. She wants to test out of as much as she can. I'm a science / healthcare person, so I never looked into any programs in this area, so that is why I need some help.

Hi Marianne202,
Hmm, let's hit three birds with one stone! There's only one program I would advise your daughter to attend at $3000/6 month term.

1) Get your daughter to finish courses at ALEKS, Saylor, Shmoop, Straighterline, Study.com, etc, enough for 60+ credits (AA/AS)
2) Have your daughter transfer those courses and get an Associates of Arts/Science from COSC or TESU if you prefer, even Excelsior.
3) Using those same courses, transfer to Hodges University (they're RA and have an awesome reputation + online "Upower" offering).
4) Get your daughter to finish off her BS in Digital Design and Graphics (They have an AS/BS and MS in this arena).
5) If she would like to continue with Art School, I would recommend her to finish the MS in Visual Communications instead.

Note: In addition to Regional Accreditation, their program curriculum is certified by the American Digital Design Association (ADDA).

Completed: UMPI BAS & MAOL (2025)
TESU ASNSM Biology, BSBA (ACBSP Accredited 2017)

This is my first time hearing of Hodges - how does it compare to WGU? Pricing is about the same.

Does the local CC in the area you live have a Web Design program? That is usually a great starting point. Many Web Design programs are certificates, AAS or AA programs. If she has Gen Eds completed all she would have to do is core.
