Hi all! I haven't been on the boards for a very long time, after my daughter was born I had to put my education on the back burner and work as much as I could.
So anyway, I'm back, and I'm sad.... What has happened to TESC? Capstone course...weird random resident requirements for some programs....NO FEMA anymore...I'm so bummed.
I know why they had to do do this. I'm not mad at them. I'm just bummed,,,,licking my wounds I guess.
20 credits short of my bachelor's from TESC (eval from 2009) a few years ago, now I'm 35ish short (because of FEMA) and have to do a capstone now.
Maybe I should just go for a plain ol' Associates in Arts degree from Charter Oak State College.
I don't want to take the easy way out, I just don't have the money for 40 more courses...and TESC transcripted my lower level credits in high level categories and Excelsior did not. It's my fault for not jumping on the opportunity I had with all my old friends on the boards here who received their BA in Social Science or Liberal Studies like I had planned on. I missed the boat. banghead
Easy way out? I don't think so because I worked just as hard...I CAN do the work to get my bachelor's, but everything is so much more expensive now and if I get my associate's at least I can transfer to a real school.
I'm scared if I wait, the requirements will change again, unfavorably.
My credits will assemble an awesome Associates degree...I can scrape together a mediocre Bachelor's degree, with a lot of time and money (that I don't have lol)
Atleast then I'll have a chance, and be able to use my AA from Charter Oak to transfer on to somewhere totally different....
Sorry I'm bummed guys
PS - I'm so proud of what so many of you have accomplished on here. I'm amazed at where people have gone with their distance learning degrees, you guys are awesome...hopefully I get this all figured out and one day I can accomplish my goals. Everyone here is a true inspiration. xo

Welcome back!
Congratulations on your little one. Family is most important!
Yeah, I was gone a few years too and so much has changed! What TESC now offers is a pay per credit tuition program. Yes, you lost FEMAs but you can pick up low level TECEP exams to fill free electives. As long as you take 24 credits though TESC you can enroll using pay per credit tuition plan and take 7 TECEPs and the capstone. Depending on instate or out of state it ends up costing ~2.5K. Take all your other credits through DSST (UL/LL) and/or CLEP (LL). You are not that far off don't give up.
Sanantone advised you only need to register for one TECEP to enroll. You can complete the AA Gen Studies (no capstone req'd) while working on the BA Social Sciences.
Search posts on the new reqs, especially posts by Sanantone. Also, here is my recent post on the subject.

Hi there!!
Thank you so much for your input, I am much more positive about sticking with the TESC Bachelor's...now that I'm looking at things with a more clear mind. I think I'm liking this new pay-per-credit option! I have a lot of researching and catching up ahead of me it looks like
Much appreciated!

I highly recommend PSY270 Psychology of Women. If interested PM me your email, I still have my study notes. Granted the are from quite a few yrs back but could be of use. I don't remember if feedback was available in specific exam feedback.

I know you have been here a long time, and you do state you are proud of us; but what do you mean by a "real school"?

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.
Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.
Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.
Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.
Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

I KNOW THESE ARE REAL SCHOOLS.
I mean since the requirements are becoming more restrictive, it is looking like one day it would just make sense to go to a school that is in your state, less expensive, etc.
IF THE TERM REAL SCHOOL made you that upset please forgive me. I meant schools that AREN'T the big 3 where you can do pretty much everything online and take advantage of their very liberal credit acceptance policies.

You are entitled to feel however you wish. I don't think you meant anything bad by it. All I'm trying to get at is that you should choose your words to fit your particular audience. Asking a forum full of Big 3 grads and students for assistance and then indirectly implying that their school is not real, is not an excellent choice of words. I
I'm not mad at you Kitty, just giving a piece of life advice. I wasted years trying to graduate from a "real school" also (LSUS, Queens, Maryland, Wyoming, OU, Penn, etc) until I came to my senses. Just take a deep breath, rally your inner troops and just get the new requirements done. When you send us your "I'm done" thread, we'll celebrate with you. -Good Luck.

Prloko, I'm sorry for being such a spazz.
I really don't even know why I said "real school." I've been defending this type of learning for about eight years against people who still believe distance education is something you order from the back of a magazine.
I am more upset with myself, and just a tiny bit mad at TESC. I knew eventually their policies would evolve as time went by. I know they're not to blame.
I am being a sourpuss, thanks for talking some sense into me, I kinda needed that.
