Western Civ II
#1
I am planning on taking this one next. This question is for anyone who has recently taken this test. What were the best resources you used? I am planning on using IC and REA. How broad was this test, and what was the degree of difficulty?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much!!

I haven't taken it "recently" per se, but I too used REA and IC, plus a high school history textbook.

It's not as difficult as some of the upper-level history exams, but don't treat as a light-weight one. Make sure you do all the IC flashcard sections 3-4 times each. Do all the practice exams in the REA book, read the answers, then take the tests again and see if you remembered. Big Grin Read a high school textbook or some supplemental equivalent. Google any person, event or place mentioned that is unfamiliar to you.

It's very doable, just don't skimp on the preparation. Good luck!

No PMs necessary Wink

There's no secret to passing this exam- except adequate preparation. It's a good idea to use a least three sources and study them thoroughly:

-InstantCert
-REA Guide
-Annenberg Media Western Civ lecture series (free & online) Resource: The Western Tradition
-Peterson's practice exams

Make sure you are really learning the concepts of the various political movements (socialism, capitalism, communism, etc.) in addition to knowing dates and names. IMO, the REA practice tests are easier than the CLEP itself; the Peterson's exams are better for gauging your readiness.

Good luck!

What about West. Civ. I? Is it harder, easier or similar to West. Civ II?
