Western Civilization I
#1
Just passed the Western Civilization I with a 62. I recommend studying Instant Cert along with REA Western Civ I. The questions on REA really helped and really need to be studied together.

CONGRAT's!! I need to take either Western Civilization I or II. Which one would you say is easier? And what is REA? I'm so nervous about it being very difficult to pass.

Your results are impressive! Congrat's! Can you give me feedback on Western Civ I and Western Civ II? I need to take one of those CLEP's. Thanks!

I took the Western Civ I test and passed with a 56. I prepared by re-taking the REA practice exams until I could get all the answers right. I didn't find this site as useful as the REA material.

I recently passed the Western Civ 1 test with a 65 using the REA Western Civ 1 book, a high school ancient history text, and the InstantCert flashcards.
The REA book included what you need to know and I would highly recommend anyone taking this test to get the book. I got mine from Amazon. Just search on REA Western Civilization 1 and it will come up. I would advise you to get the version which includes the CD of practice tests. The book includes printed versions of the tests, but I found it very helpful to practice on the computer with an official time restraint. It also scores it for you as well.
InstantCert and the high school text book I got for this were both also extremely helpful to me. They both supplemented the REA's weak spots wonderfully.

Good luck and I hope that this helps you.

Congrats!!! Don't it feel gooood? I just passed West Civ 1 today too! Smile I scored a 70 after doing better on the paterson's test, which were much harder but a great study aid.

I think this is the most intense clep I have studied for (soc, psych, us hist1)
because of all the artists, writers and "reasons why" for so many different civilizations you needed to know.

I watched a handful of historical documentaries, which I highly recommend doing before you hit the texts if you want to stay sane.

Ic posts were invaluable to me, thanks to all who shared the great info!
