Where can NIU / MSSI credits transfer?
#1
Not sure if anyone is familiar with NIU. If you are, I am trying to help out a friend. He completed everything except for his thesis with NIU (when it was the JMIC and then NDIC). So....I am encouraging him to transfer his credits to a school that could award him most of his credits (a generous transfer policy). His bachelors GPA was a 2.7, but for his MSSI I believe he did fairly well in comparison....then life got in the way (family, divorce, 9/11, etc). He doesn't have the ability to go back to submit a thesis. Anyone know of a school that would take most of what he already completed? I don't want to go too much into the topic of his degree or major. I just want to encourage him, if I can...with your help. Like most, costs matter a great deal due to his situation and time to complete. Normally he works fulltime, but not at the moment (not sure how long that will last).

I'm not familiar with this in particular but I know that most schools don't really do grad credit transfers. I've seen a couple of possibilities mentioned here but I think the maximum is usually only 8-12 credits and not most of a degree.

I will tell him to check out Amberton. He did so much work, and did not submit his thesis. Now, he can't even go back to submit it because he's not in the environment to do it.

There was a time that APUS (AMU in particular) was interested in providing Intel degrees to those in the then JMIC/NDIC program (basically award it). But, that's when I spoke with their reps who came over to our federal bldg back in the early 2000s. So much has since changed, and the NIU is now under I believe the DNI. So...ugh.
