Who keeps my credits?

Firedup4Jesus Wrote:Are you absolutely positive they will take all the math credits? (minus beginning Algebra) I asked them and they said that as long as CLEP College MATH is MAT 102-103, Intermediate Algebra is MAT 115 and College Algebra is MAT 121. They will accept all of the credits.Let me know if this is correct...??? But will they let the CLEP test pass for college math?Does collegeboard keep DSST credits too?
Oh, and yes I have my ALEKS courses on my transcript with ACE! :coolgleam:

I'm positive. Many here have received those course numbers/credits for those classes Smile

I don't know if I understand your question above (in red). Are you wanting to know if the college math CLEP is sufficient for the math requirement of a bachelor's degree? If so, the answer is that it depends on the degree. If you only need a 100 level math (liberal arts majors among others) then yes. If you are going for business, math, science, etc then they will specify the minimum math you need. Just check the various majors you are considering and look for the minimums, base your goals off of that. For instance, business will require precal as the minimum, so if you are planning your degree from scratch, you can complete all the lower maths and use them to back fill the gen ed electives.
DSST is a different brand than CLEP, so College Board does not hold DSST scores. College Board's brands are PSAT, SAT, AP, and CLEP. You can go to DSST - GetCollegeCredit.com and you'll see the DSST info. HTH

How would this change anything? If they "threw away your CLEP credits" after 6 months... wouldn't that mean you'd just have to pay to send them a transcript? Which is exactly where you started. At least this way you have a chance to save some money.

Then again since you didn't send them the scores from the exam(s) you already took, you'd have to pay the fee to have them get those credits, so it might be pointless now. But since you get a free school to send your scores to when you take an exam I would take advantage of it even if it might not matter in the end.

Well what I was asking is...whether TESC will count it towards my Math/Science category. I am pursuing a degree in Music. I need 12 Math/Science credits. But I know some universities only accept the mathematics CLEP as a free elective. I was wondering if TESC was the same way? I hope this makes more since...sorry for the confusion! :o

here's the math/science part of the only music degree offered:

D. Natural Sciences and Mathematics 12
One college-level mathematics course required
(3)
One computer science course recommended
(3)
Other natural sciences/mathematics
(6)
Must include at least two subject areas

To me (and I could be very wrong so bear that in mind) I suppose it's possible it could work like this:

CLEP college mathematics (3) *partial
DSST intro to computing (if this works here) or an accepted comp class (3)
CLEP mathematics (3) *partial
Science class/CLEP/etc (3)

Also it say's the computer science course is "recommended" so I suppose you could throw another math or science in there so it looked more like:

CLEP college mathematics (3) *partial
CLEP college algebra (3)
DSST Astronomy or something... (3)
CLEP mathematics (3) *partial

Just an eduated guess though... But the TESC website does have the credits for College Mathematics listed as a math course equivalent... not a "free elective" so that is good I suppose.
