I watched every episode growing up in Scotland - Tom Baker being my favorite at that time, but since they brought the show back to life in the 2000's my favorite Doctor is David Tennant, followed by Christopher Eccleston and Matt Smith. I saw some pictures of Peter Capaldi on set and his getup looks pretty spiffy.
In the UK Dr Who is an institution, not just a TV Show I also love the Torchwood spinoff with Captain Jack. If you make it to the UK on your vacation you should plan a trip to the Dr Who Museum in London and the Dr Who Experience in Cardiff.

Actually, that sounds like a FANTASTIC idea!
And I agree with you: David Tennant is definitely the best of the reboot. And Captain Jack/Face of Boe is definitely one of the best supporting characters!

Yep! My Husband is a Brit and Dr. Who is an institution for sure. I think the younger generation likes the new hip Dr. Who. As for myself, I like the old ones…the nerdier and nuttier the better. I like my Dr. Who like I like Doc from "Back the the Future".

My wife is the big Dr Who fan. I prefer Firefly, Voyager, and Sanctuary. Dr Who will do in a pinch though. I quickly run out of episodes of them all because I use my htpc to binge watch full seasons.
