Word 2007 Help Needed!

Ok, so right now I'm totally hating Word 2007 and regretting upgrading from 2003! I had an assignment to save a Word 2003 doc and add headers and footers with the first page being different than the later pages. No problem, done, then my teacher decides that we need to add a basic cover page. No problem, I go in and click insert cover page, but now it screws up my first page specific header and footer. I have spent over 2 hours trying to fix this problem every way I can think of. I can't find anything on Office help to address this.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get around this? I would have thought if you insert a cover page it wouldn't count as the first page of your existing document but it does in Word 2007.

Any suggestions or places to look for help are greatly appreciated!

In Word 2007, press F1 which will bring up the Word help menu, then click on "page numbers" which explains what to do
