Word and symbol errors in College Mathematics flashcard sets
#1
I am a new user (in high school) and have been greatly enjoying InstantCert very much.
But I come across a problem: As I go through the College Mathematics flashcard set I have noticed many errors in mathematical symbols in both answers and questions. This would be a great stumbling block for people who have not done math for a while. Their minds would be programmed to the incorrect symbols, such as, Ö and Í (first one means radical, second one means "subset of"), and they would not recognize the real mathematical symbols. So… can anything be done about this?

Secondly, there is a completely misleading "Detailed Explanation" of College Mathematics>Functions and their Graphs 2>Question 26. It is as follows:
"4. The degree is the highest power of any coefficient in the expression."
It should not be "coefficient." I am quite sure that the right word is "variable."

I don't know what is entailed, but I would be glad to help reword some of the sentence structure in the CM flashcard set. It seems somewhat sloppy to me, so I would be glad to help clean it up a bit. I don't mean to step on anyone's toes--just wondering.

Again, thank you for this excellent resource!!

You might want to try a different browser and see if that helps the symbols show up correctly. I was using firefox and was having trouble seeing the symbols. Once I switched to chrome everything worked better as far as the symbols go.

Thank you for the advice, freddy, but I am presently not able to switch browsers.
I'm still rather fresh in my math skills, so these errors are not a problem for me--I'm just worried about others who might get confused. That this happens is not an advantage for InstantCert.…

I have the same problem and I'm using firefox. I'll try chrome, but I have to say that if IC can't make a webpage that's firefox compatible, it might be time to hire some new web guys. It sure doesn't give me a lot of confidence in their product.

Looks like it's an issue with linux. They must be using a proprietary microsoft font
