Can anyone tell me if IC has up-dated the ISCA flashcards recently? I have to admit that I'm a little worried since reading feedback from several folks mentioning that they are outdated. I'm not using it as my only source but am going through all the flash cards but wouldn't want to concentrate my efforts on them so much if they're outdated. kwim??
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi!
I took the new version of this CLEP test a little less than a year ago.
The IC flashcards are great for this CLEP exam. The key for me was using all 3 sets (CLEP and 2 DSSTs) of computing flashcards to prepare for this exam.
I posted feedback on all of the resources I used here (scroll down past College Math CLEP):

Note: My school (EC) awards credit for all 3 computing exams.

Thanks Nap,
I've looked over your feedback several times over the months. Great info.
So I will continue on with the flash cards and move on to the DSST cards as well.
I've been studying Jan's Illustrated Computer Literacy 101 site for a couple of weeks. Will be taking the Peterson's tests, hope to start one of them today (been putting them off until flash cards are learned).
Thanks again for your take on the cards.

Sounds like a good plan. Iâm glad my feedback has been helpful to you!
I was concerned about the changes to this exam, too. Plus, Iâve never used so few resources before, and IC was my main study source for the first time. It worked out very well.
If you have some extra time, look through the Petersonâs practice tests for DSST Intro to Computing, too.
Best wishes on your exam!

I tested today, and scored a 71. This was my very first CLEP so I didn't know what to expect. Honestly the flashcards for me were not that helpful. The flashcards broad brush too many areas, and are not descriptive enough when talking about the different database types, Processes, and Information Systems. The Instacards are fine for the basic computing stuff, but most people that grew up in the late 80s and 90s probably already know most of the information anyways. Wikipedia and free-clep-prep.com I found were my best resources. The entire test is horrible as far as the way the questions were asked. The person who wrote it should be slapped! I will say that the 2011 CollegeBoard Official Study Guide helped me in understanding the way the questions would be worded. I still got through the test wondering if I passed or not, and was surprised by my score.

armyb77, As those below have mentioned, make sure you take Intro to Computing DSST if your school will accept it as a second course (like most will). It has a great amount of overlap with the CLEP you took. I prefer DSST tests because they have four multiple choice answers instead of five and some have an updated way of scoring. Anyway, welcome to the world of CLEP/DSST testing!
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.
