I just finished taking my first proctored exam at study.com and I'm a bit worried about the results. I passed the exam but I'm not sure if I passed the ID and room check. My webcam couldn't take a clear photo of my ID and I'm not sure if the my webcam took satisfactory footage of my room. Also for the exam, they said I was allowed to have a calculator and their approved formula sheet but thinking about it now, I'm not sure if they meant I should print it out or have it on my monitor. I tried to take good footage of the formula sheet as best as I could but again, I don't know if up to their standard. And I have to wait two weeks to find out.
Am I screwed? And can anyone recommend a decent webcam that can take clear pictures of text?

If your webcam has a manual focus (either physical or via a settings app), I found manually focusing works best. That is what I started doing on my proctored finals (on both RPnow and ProctorU) and it works out really well.
Mine has software (the Logitech Camera Settings app) that allows me to manually adjust the focus. For that, I just click off autofocus, manually focus on the ID and then take the picture. Afterward, just turn autofocus back on. If you're using a different brand of webcam you may have something similar.

I got the Logitech c270 and it doesn't come with a manual/auto focus setting. I'm going to send it back for a refund and find something better. What Logitech brand do you have?

You may be able to download and use the Logitech Camera Settings app with that webcam. You might try that first before sending it back.
To answer your question, I'm using the Logitech C922 Pro Stream, but that is overkill for proctoring.

I had the same exact concerns as you. My camera didn't take a clear picture of my ID, the room scan is a little blurry. I had a calculator and printed out formula sheets plus blank scratch paper. I got my results just fine though and all six of my classes are on my ace transcript and the last few are enroute to tesu.
