I'm closing in on the completion of my degree, and starting to think more specifically about what this will look like on a resume. My degree is in interdisciplinary studies, and it's my understanding that the proper way to list it is to list the official degree title, and then, if desired, the areas of study. Like this:
B.S. Interdisciplinary Studies (Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, Business)
I'm wondering if, since the areas of study aren't an official part of the degree title, I can/should adjust them to the more specific phrases I usually use in order to clarify for people (because they do communicate more clearly), or if that's seen as misrepresentation, too unofficial, etc. Something like this:
B.S. Interdisciplinary Studies (Holistic Health, Life Coaching, Business)
or
B.S. Interdisciplinary Studies (Health & Wellness, Life Coaching, Business)

Have a read, this is a great thread: https://www.degreeforum.net/mybb/Thread-...-on-Resume
Hmmm, I am kind of spaced out right now, just had a huge lunch and decided to check in. Anyways...
I think BS Interdisciplinary Studies (Business, Behavioral & Health Sciences) is the way I would put it...
Or just keep it nice and short and concise - BS IDS - Business, Behavioral & Health Sciences

I might put it on your resume one way, but maybe up top in the summary section (or somewhere else on the resume), list more clearly what your areas of interest were. You could also put it in your cover letter. I'd probably tailor it to the job you're going for at the time anyway, so it might be easy to figure out where to put it then (like, you might want to just talk about holistic health & coaching for a certain job, the business wouldn't really be an issue you wanted to focus on).

This is a good idea.
Obviously I don't want to be misleading, but "behavioral sciences," especially, is pretty vague compared to my actual area of focus.

I would definitely put the official title, but right underneath I would put the Coaching, etc.

Depending on the job you are seeking I would only put one not all three in (Health & Wellness, Life Coaching, Business)? You have a jack of all trades master at nothing degree as it is. Taylor it to some focus? Just my 2 cents!

I think LLL has the right idea here.
“B.S. Interdisciplinary Studies (emphasis in [area specific to job applying for])”
As long as you can justify what’s in the brackets, you’re looking good

lol It is tailored, actually, although not for anything I'm likely to need a resume for. I do health coaching/education as a business. All three AOS of highly-relevant for me. (The business is mostly marketing.) But I work for myself, so I'm not likely to need this stuff on a resume, either.
