newbie asking for enlightenment on getting cybersecurity degree
#1
Question
I just discovered this forum website and am really excited about it.

So I just also discovered that you can get a degree within 1 year, and some even in 8 months. I'm shocked because most people I know here in my country go to college or university for 4 to 6 years to get the most basic degree.

I need enlightenment on what I could do. I read about the Sofia and study.com combo. I was looking for colleges that accept international students. UPMI sounded really great, the prices and the amount of time I could finish a degree, but I read that they don't offer cybersecurity in their courses. WGU was also great, but it only accepts US students now. Apparently, I want to transfer as many credits from Sophia and other sites as possible and pay less in college. What advice do you have for me?

I currently am not doing anything (unemployed), so I have the whole day can do 6 hours studying per day or more, idk, and I want to finish my degree as fast as possible. Budget is preferably less than 7000 USD

Purdue University Global is friendly to Sophia and Study, accepts international students, and has a BS in Cybersecurity through their ExcelTrack program, which is competency-based with all-you-can-eat per-term tuition like WGU and UMPI YourPace.

PG uses quarter hours, not semester hours; 1 quarter hour = 0.667 semester hours in a typical conversion. So while the typical bachelor’s degree is 120 semester hours, PG’s is 180 quarter hours.

tysm for your response. I was just looking at it. Do you know how much credit I can transfer there? If I transfer the maximum allowed, will I be able to finish the course in one session? meaning a 2500 fee?

Like the majority of US colleges, you can transfer up to 75% of a bachelor’s degree = 135 quarter hours, leaving 45 quarter hours minimum completed at PG. But a good number of courses in the cybersecurity major don’t have obvious alt-credit equivalent courses, so you’ll likely need more than 45 in practice.

Conventional wisdom is that PG (we also unofficially call it PUG) CBE courses take longer than WGU and UMPI for equivalent credit, with a fair number of assignments. But CBE that’s less efficient than WGU and UMPI may still be more efficient than non-CBE programs.

Probably not one session. I wouldn’t be surprised if three was a reasonable goal and two possible?

Again, ty i understood that, and I will see, but I have been learning like 10 hours per day in school, and 2 hours of those breaks. I think I can do 6 to 7 hours of study per day. And do you have the credit list I need to take to do 75% (135 ) on Sofia and other platforms?

uses CompTIA certifications to meet some requirements Sophia or Study can’t reach.

Again, thank you so much; you don't know how much this helps. I really appreciate every reply. Most of my questions are answered. This will be the last one, sorry for asking too much

1. So I just click this link you sent me and then learn the course with Sofia and others, then i applied to PUG right? is there anything i need to be aware of

2. I really don't want to waste the time, can i like verify if Pug will accept me first bcz if they don't the credits are useless now

3. There are black spaces in the link you send. Some courses don't have links to anything(you can check in the attachment). How do I get those?

These is all
