homeschooled teen - opinions wanted about TESU vs COSC
#11
dfrecore Wrote:I may even have her do the Straighterline "$1200 for the "freshman year" deal - so she can take college-level Bio, Chem, Anatomy, English, during her senior year in high school, knowing that she won't be transferring it to college, but giving her a leg up when she does get to the college, to get those high grades. Almost the opposite of what everyone on the forum is trying to do, I know!

You're exactly right. The difference with an adult is that they've already completed k-12 and are usually "returning" to school with some life experience, work experience, and a solid idea of what they need to get to the next stage of life. That's so entirely different from a teenager, that I'm 100% in this camp with dfrecore. I didn't even suggest the big 3 in my book (2012), because I think *in general* it's a choice that can create problems for homeschooled teens (I won't get on that soapbox here) but that being said, I have revised my position a little, and understand that it does have a place for some families and it's in the version coming out later this year.

I'd add to the advice above to explore other forum communities like All Nurses, where issues like credit by exam are being discussed by people DOING it in nursing. I think you'll find that you can shave time and money by using CLEP and distance learning in a traditional nursing program. Nursing is very distance-learning friendly.
