Final TESU degree/credit audit - has anyone ever heard of problems?
#1
Just curious:  Has anyone ever heard of an issue coming back from the final degree audit (the one in preparation for conferral of degree), after everything has been completed and approved by your TESU advisor?

The impression I got from talking to my advisor was that it was basically a formality, and that generally, the only problems that come up were when a transcript or record of credits from another school or ACE/NCCRS provider has not arrived or something.

Has anyone heard of any serious thing, like a major miscalculation or credits misapplied to a requirement or something like that?

On this board, I think there has been one person who had an irregularity discovered just before graduation. It was something relatively minor and easily fixed, IIRC. So, yes, they're basically a formality.

Interesting, I don't recall reading anything like this. I may have missed it someplace or another, but the majority of the time, you should be fine as long as you've hit all the requirements. I don't think you'll come across issues, the only times I tell people to review and verify are the ones who use their Community College or 4 year college credits that have transferred in as UL when they should be LL, internal audits may 'fail' if that's picked up.

It was something like that, yeah. I can't remember, but it was either an UL ACE course being counted as LL for the final audit or the final audit moved courses around slightly so that they were "missing credit" (maybe both?). Unfortunately, I also don't remember if they quickly transferred in another course from somewhere or if they successfully argued for the original distribution of credits.

I do, in fact, have two courses that are community college credits that have been evaluated as upper level (Physiology and Pharmacology of Alcohol and Drugs, which is coming in as PSY-399, and Psychology: Issues of Diverse Populations, which is also coming in as PSY-399. There's also my LSSS "Group 2" (I have no idea what that is or means) which is Honors Abnormal Behavior, which is coming in as PSY-399. These have all been reviewed, twice, by the same advisor, Don Stolt. I don't think there's anything else odd, so I'm hoping this sails through. Smile

I had several courses come in as UL that weren't, and even more than came in as LL when they were UL back when TESU did my first eval; I asked for re-evaluation for the ones that were supposed to be UL (the schools in question both did 1-99 as LL and 100-199 as UL) - TESU fixed all of them, and moved stuff to the correct places. They did not downgrade any of the UL courses (they were from a 4yr school).

When they did my final graduation audit, they did not change anything.

The BA LS SS just means it's a BA Liberal Studies with a Social Science concentration. Yeah, I noticed many community college courses get either upgraded or downgraded, I don't see any consistency on how they do things, generally though it seems to go by "course content/name", if it's really similar they will remain as upper level. Otherwise, I've seen it go back to the right place or spot and at a lower level...

Oh, it wasn't the "LSSS" I couldn't figure out, it was the "Group 2" in the LS credits.   Hopefully the multiple reviews it's gone through already will be adequate and nothing gets changed. Smile

Thanks!

Oh, that area "Group 2" just indicates it's your Lower Level or Upper Level AOS to hit the final 18 credits, as group 1 will determine the AOS and only represent 15 credits, group 2 is to satisfy all 18 credits. So, in short, it can be anything that is a social science for your AOS, for others, it'll be whichever course they need for their current concentration.
