I've been wondering the same. With a target of hitting 100 million students, they obviously have to cast a wide net. While their focus definitely appears to be the people most in need, I'm hoping they don't plan to exclude some people while including others. I'm going to sit for the informational webinar to hopefully gain more insight on the project.

Heck, I’d probably be willing to pay some sort of nominal fee.  Although free would be amazing.  I’m still working through some Coursera Plus programs that interest me and a few other potential ACE credits until I decide 100% on what I want to do.

Very interesting.   Of course, I am still looking for “the catch”.  I noticed he said something along the lines of… learners will get a free digital badge/certificate and then they can “apply” to get credit and a certified certificate.  I wonder if that is the point where there could be a cost.  It’s all free until/unless you want to get the actual credits?   Or maybe there’s just some extra assignment/project/capstone/minimum grade needed to actually secure the credit.  I will, at minimum, tune in to the first class.

One of the YT comments said something about it being "freemium" in that they saw that there is a (small) fee to get the certificate. But I don't know where they saw that.

He said the they would have to apply to ASU in order to get credit for the courses. So you're at least out an application fee.

A lot of cynical commenters on Youtube haha. I'm not saying there will never be a "catch" of some sort, but I've been routinely checking official sources and haven't seen any "fees" yet. Though I wouldn't complain about a nominal fee for credit conversion like the Universal Learner Courses(hopefully cheaper, though).

I would hope that the fee (if any) is less than the Universal Learner fees, at least since they're going on about how this is a free credential. $25 would be fine. $400 per class would be a heck of a lot of money for people in a lot of the world.
