TESU BA Computer Science BSBA CIS Double Degree Plan
#31
@MrPanda, no. I'm thinking "BA Math & CS" + "BSBA CIS", having 9 credits(3 AOS) overlap.

@Bjcheung77, I guess you're saying you're unsure...? The site says "Students cannot complete a third area of study within one bachelor’s degree.", but this would be a separate degree, from a separate school as you mention.

Yea I guess certificates will have to do, just want to make sure there isn't too much additional fees for those..!

@StudentOLife, Please re-read my post, you CAN... 3 courses max. You're doing two degrees, it's allowed 3 courses.
BA CS + BA Math = 3 courses max (9 credits) overlap, and BSBA Entrepreneurship + CIS = NO overlapping of courses allowed.

BACS/Math + BSBA CIS = 3 courses max between the two degrees, (9 credits) overlap. The BA with the overlapping courses aren't looked at between two different degrees, you're good here.

As long as you graduate with your certificate(s) at the same time as you graduate with your degrees, there are NO additional fees. Except for the cost of the extra credits necessary to obtain the certificate(s), of course.

You linked to the wrong catalog year and policy in your post. It's the "First Simultaneous Associate or Baccalaureate Degrees" policy that's relevant for dual degrees: https://tesu.smartcatalogiq.com/Current/...ees-Policy

Quote: Students who desire to have two different Thomas Edison State University baccalaureate degrees awarded in the same graduation cycle may do so providing 24 credits are different in the second degree's core/area of study. In addition, all requirements for both degrees must be satisfied.

Students who desire to have two different Thomas Edison State University associate degrees awarded in the same graduation cycle may do so providing 12 credits that are different in the second degree's option. In addition, all requirements for both degrees must be satisfied.

In both cases, the degrees earned must be different degrees, not just a different/additional area of study. For one degree with two areas of study/options, refer to the Two Areas of Study within One Degree policy.
Ongoing: MLIS

Thats amazing, thanks @bjcheung77 so good to know I've got some business school credits I may be able to use. Though not sure how it'd look if I've got two different degrees from TESU.

Many thnaks to @rachel83z and @carrythenothing too!

IMO, it can only make you look like a better candidate. That's why I'm getting two degrees!

I´m thinking the same. However, I hope we are right.

For example, right now there´s an open part-time math teacher position, and the ad requires the following:

  • Grado de Magister (No Indispensable)
  • Mínima de 03 años de experiencia. (Indispensable)
  • Bachiller o titulado de Matemática o carreras afines
So, I hope that "BA in Math & CS" would be "afín".
Probably for March 2023 I´ll be able to apply to those positions :-D (I´m being very optimistic)

(I just mix Spanish and English, since I know that most of you actually understand Spanish)

I would think that CS & Math combined should definitely work. I hope it's able to open the doors that you want it to open.

The reason having an extra major or degree would look better on an application is that they know you've done well to pass those extra courses. It shows you're committed to further your education when you apply to their graduate programs. Did you guys read about the person a few years ago who was taking 5 bachelors degrees just to get noticed at the IVY League colleges? Well, he made it... You get noticed when you are the full package and bring in a strong application...

Would be keen to read more, do you have the link, or just something to search? I just thought(perhaps mistakenly), if they see this many degrees from a single school, they may have "diploma mill" red-flags.
