Online schools that count PLA for residence?
#1
Dfrecore posted about Wilmington U once. A student still has to do 15 in residence there, however, which is fine with me, but I didn't like some other aspect of their degree plan.

I've been searching Google and found UMGC does.

Anyone know others?

Although I know that portfolios can take a lot of work, generally more work than many ACE courses, it seems great for some situtations.

I'm looking for one that takes ACE credits. (If they don't, maybe they would award PLA credit for having done an ACE course and a little bit more. Or maybe it's not worth trying if they won't even take ACE courses.)

Edit: UMGC requires a lot of graded coursework.

Further to this, you may want to indicate if you're looking for undergrad studies or graduate studies as the requirements would most likely differ for transferability. Most schools have limits of transfer from 25%, 50%, up to 75% of the program, there are only selective ones that allow up to 102 credits or in the case of the Big 3, 113/114 transfer. At the grad level, it's usually max at 50%.

I meant undergrad. They would need to allow 90 credits in transfer.

Graduate programs could be very interesting too if they would allow at least a quarter of the degree to be PLA, but I'm not sure many offer PLA at all.

I know UMPI does not count PLA in its residence requirement. Might be challenging to find schools who do since technically that education isn't earned at the school.

Yes, seems to be hardly any that are online and also take ACE.

I found some that were B&M.

Take a look at UMASS University Without Walls program.

Prior Learning Portfolio

Unique to the UWW Interdisciplinary Studies program, you will complete a prior learning portfolio as part of your program requirements. The prior learning portfolio is a set of essays reflecting on your life and work experience, which will be evaluated and can be worth up to 30 UMass Amherst residence credits.....
