Hello fellow degree planners! First and foremost, I would like to thank all of you for all the work and information that you provide on the daily. I've been a bit of a lurker for some time now and thanks to you all I now have my Pierpont AAS with an emphasis on Information Systems and all in about a months work!

Now, I am seeking to complete my bachelor's with UMPI and more specifically the BAS. I am interested in minors such as criminal justice, sociology, and maybe pre-law. Based on my credits, what would be the best minor or combination of minors along with the BAS that would require the least amount of classes to take based on the minor and upper level requirements. I am planning on taking English I&II with UMPI for reference.

I'm hoping that my law enforcement certification also comes in with some credits towards criminal justice but I'm not sure. I fear that the above mentioned minors do not contain enough upper lever credits to satisfy the BAS requirements of 18 UL credits which is why I am now coming to the experts for help! I would like to keep the amount of classes needed as close to the required 10 as possible. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

@Sku11_, Welcome to the board, cool... it's great you've done the addendum and template, plus provide more details on what you're trying to accomplish!  With the info you've provided, you need to know that the UMPI BAS isn't on the Your Pace program platform, it's a butt-in-seat program but can use classes from the Your Pace programs list.

Basically, you have to select a minor that is from the Your Pace program first, then add anything you want as a secondary minor as long as that minor exists in their catalog.  You can try adding a CJ minor since the courses are all available through Your Pace, or anything else that you can transfer the classes from or take the required classes through Your Pace...

I see, thank you for your wisdom! Looks like I'll have to play around with different combinations to reach the amount required of UL credits while staying as close to the minimum of 10 classes.

Just wondering why you're wanting the BAS instead of the BA CJ? You don't really have that many credits. At least, not so many that getting the BA CJ is outside the realm of possibility. If you really want the BAS for whatever reason, that's fine. But considering you want the CJ and pre-law minors from UMPI, their BA CJ might be a better fit.
In progress:
TESU - BA Computer Science; BSBA CIS; ASNSM Math & CS; ASBA

Completed:
Pierpont - AAS BOG
Sophia (so many), The Institutes (old), Study.com (5 courses)
ASU: Human Origins, Astronomy, Intro Health & Wellness, Western Civilization, Computer Appls & Info Technology, Intro Programming
Strayer: CIS175, CIS111, WRK100, MAT210

It's definitely doable and I've considered it (still am), however, going for the BA CJ would require me to do around six or seven classes on SDC which I know is going to be time-consuming. Otherwise, I would have to do around 17 classes with UMPI and although I am a pretty decent writer, I do not enjoy writing lol. If UMPI grants me CJ credits for my law enforcement certification which I did at an accredited college, then the possibility of a BA CJ would seem more likely especially since I actually enjoy the material and I'm pretty well versed on the subject. I plan to start UMPI October 23rd so it is all a waiting game now to see how my credit transfers come in!

When selecting a minor, the courses must be offered at YourPace; otherwise, you need to transfer it in.

The UL can be done in free electives or as part of the minor.  Four minor courses you take at UMPI and 6 UL must be taken at UMPI.

One thing that doesn't look like is being taken into account...technically the BAS is not offered in YourPace. They have strict requirements for admission to the BAS. Have you spoken with admissions - not an enrollment counselor - if you would be accepted in the BAS? Most people aren't and are admitted to the BLS program instead. This is something to definitely figure out before you're too far into the planning process because it will change what the degree requirements are.

That's right, and I mentioned the BAS isn't a Your Pace program... Hopefully though, you may have enough technical credits with the Google/TEEX you took. I would apply, get an evaluation for the BLS or BABA, and when you speak with the advisor, ask to be bumped over to the BAS. Prepare for the BABA or BLS, but shoot for the BAS if you can...
