Taking CS AOS at TESU
#1
Long time listener, first time caller. This board has been incredibly helpful to me as I work on completing my BA Computer Science program at TESU. I'm currently 30 credit hours away from graduation. My plan was to complete as much as possible at Sophia/SDC and just take the Capstone at TESU (I have the rest of my SDC classes preplanned with advising. I'm finished with my Sophia classes). I already have a previous BA and a MS degree, so Cornerstone was waived and I had a decent chunk of transfer credit. In terms of finances, the plan was paying out of pocket for Capstone + waiver.

Here's where my plan gets a potential update. I switched jobs last year and now I am eligible for tuition reimbursement. I couldn't get the residency waiver reimbursed, but I could get the cost of 2 semesters almost completely reimbursed. I'm considering taking a few more courses at SDC and then finish up the remaining classes at TESU (split over 2 semesters, so 3 or 4 classes in each semester). This would save me considerable money, but I haven't seen a whole lot of posts about taking courses with TESU other than Software Engineering or Capstone. I currently work in IT and I don't have to commute for work, so I have considerable time to devote to this (and a little background in the field).

Has anyone taken most of their AOS courses at TESU? Any recommendations for what would be best to take at TESU and what's best to take at SDC? Currently I have my additional AOS electives, Calculus, MIS, and Intro to IT completed. So I have a decent amount to choose from at this point.

Thank you all!

@daniart09, Welcome to the board, that's a good intro post with some info, having said that, it's missing the most critical pieces of information... What are the remaining classes missing for the BACS AOS? We can't recommend you to take anything until we know what's to take that is remaining for the degree requirements. Your best bet is to copy/paste the info on the TESU website and our WIKI for the AOS and select the classes that are available at TESU, there is also a list of recommended courses for TESU to take in a flat rate term on the WIKI and previous posts/threads if you decide that route...

I took a significant number of courses at TESU because back then, there weren't really any other ways to get the credit. I used PLA where I could, then took Discrete Math, AI, Database Management and Operating Systems. AI was decent, but had no practical assignments at all. Operating Systems was boring, mostly a matter memorizing their terminology. Database Mgmt was mainly SQL, pretty easy. The main thing about courses at TESU is that you can't really speed them up, and there will be assignments to complete each week. Discrete Math was actually a lot of work, but probably the most rewarding.

I ran them overlapping, starting a new course each month, leaving me with a course at the beginning, one in the middle with a mid-term, and one at the end prepping for the final.
