my TESU prep
#1
It looks like I will be going to TESU for a Liberal Studies degree. There are 2 classes I *must* take at TESU, and 6 more I will take at StC.

At StC, the first 2 will be English 205 and Sociology 101 (or Geography). The other 4 classes I take at StC need to be Upper Level Liberal Studies classes, and I will be communicating with TESU to determine which ones they will be. My first step is to take the first 2 classes at StC, and then the next 4. The last step is to take the Information Literacy course at TESU, do the Capstone, pay the short-timers fee, and graduate. I have no idea how long this will all take. My guess is 6-9 months.

in case you didn't see it, there's a course equivalency chart for TESU and StC https://study.com/college/school/thomas-...rsity.html
That will show upper vs lower. look for courses in the liberal studies categories such as English, Psychology, Social sciences, history, criminal justice, and other courses that mix/match meet your liberal studies with or without concentration. cross that with
https://tesu.smartcatalogiq.com/en/curre...l-studies/
Hopefully that can help as you talk to your advisors about specific course in your degree plan that are of interest to you.
TESU: BALS June 2021 (comm college, clep, sdc sophia coopersmith, SOS110, and capstone)

For Sophia, we try to keep this page updated for TESU
https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/So...lency_List

You can also email TESU advising to verify that the courses will count before taking them and to help with course planning.

If, for some reason, advising tells you something different from what's in the Wiki, we can discuss it here on the forums

Yeah, I talked with TESU, and they said to stay in contact as I took the classes at StC, so they could help me pick the UL courses.

Just out of curiosity, is there any major disadvantage to taking my 8 courses at TESU instead of StC? The classes would be English 2 (ENC1020), Sociology Intro, Information Literacy, Capstone, and 4 Upper Level humaniities classes. This is for a BA LS. My guess is that the 4 UL Humanities at TESU would be a lot harder than at StC. My goal is to finish with 12 months. That would be 8 courses in 12 months at TESU. My other option is 6 at StC and 2 at TESU. Money is not an issue if I can finsh within a year. I have no idea how fast a typical TESU student completes classes. Many, if not most, I would take as "normal" classes (not TECEPT).

Cost, ease, speed to finish is severely impacted by taking classes at an institution, any institution for that matter, especially if they allow you to transfer from alternative credit providers. Here's the thing, it's not just money you're looking at, you're looking at energy and time you're spending to complete classes that aren't really needed to have a focus on...

Coursera, Sophia.org, Study.com, StraighterLine, plus other ACE/NCCRS classes can be done in a few days at most, each TESU class is 12 weeks long, even if you take two TESU classes at a time, it'll take 12 weeks for both. From $95-$99/month for lower level classes, you're paying over a grand each TESU class! Only take what can't be transferred...

It would take longer to complete courses at TESU compared to Study.com or Sophia. A course at TESU typically takes around 40 hours to complete, give or take 20 hours. The capstone takes approximately 80 hours, with a similar margin of variation.

I wouldn’t recommend signing up for multiple TESU courses that rely heavily on exams for grading.

If you’ve earned a lot of WGU IT credit, I would definitely consider pursuing an associate degree in Computer Science especially since it’s free and you may already have enough credits to qualify.
