Cheap English/Communication/Writing Masters?

Was talking about this with a friend who's interested in an online master's in English, literature, communication, writing, journalism, or adjacent fields, preferably U.S. "regionally" accredited but will consider other countries. I thought the cheapest RA might be a Don Bosco master's in journalism, but I don't think they offer it online. Indira Gandhi Open University has one in journalism, but I've heard their programs are difficult to navigate.

The age-old wisdom to try somewhere in-state does not apply here, because in-state tuition where they live is expensive.

UMPI has a grad cert in writing through yourpace but it is only 12 credits. Will be following your thread because outside of fitchburg state's masters in english lit I have not found one under 11k.

Middle Georgia State University is $261 per graduate credit online. They offer a degree in public relations which is mainly commutations focused and they offer a degree in technical and professional writing.

Messdiener, have you done any of the Indian programs? It's hard to tell by looking at the webpages if learning is synchronous or asynchronous. I assume it differs from school to school; the preference would probably be for asynchronous due to the time zone difference.

Alas, no. I have bookmarked a few of these, as I would someday like to do some literature study. These programs looked like an inexpensive way to have a bit of accountability along the way.

I remember that a few mentioned live and recorded lectures, so I'll go out on a limb and wager that most would be asynchronous. However, I won't bet my life savings on it! If a particular degree catches your eye, it'd be best to write them directly to ask.

I have attended classes at Middle Georgia State and it's a good school, if that matters to anyone. Especially in the Macon area it's very popular and has a good reputation
