Online Exam/testing For Distance Classes

Has anyone ever taken any classes at University of Phoenix online or any other school? My best friend is taking English Comp 1 and College Algebra there and he wants to know how they conduct their exams. Do you download them, then upload when you're done? Use some software that they provide? Conduct the test in your browser? How do they prevent you from using the wiki or google to research answers during the exams?:eek:

What would be the point of "distance learning" if you have to show up at some place to take a test? How do deployed soldiers get away with that? My two brothers are soldiers and want to take classes that way.:confused:

The exams can be taken at a testing facility near your home (local college, library, etc.). There are always test proctors on base if you're in the military.

Hi. I am currently student a UOP and have taken classes on-campus and on-line. I did take the math class on-line. Lots of work but the final exams are open book. You definitely can not get behind otherwise you will always be behind the eight ball. Good luck.

Do they have test proctors in Iraq/Afghanistan? I used to be in the Army, been to Iraq 3 times, and separated in 2006. I've never seen a proctor hanging out in the dirt.hilarious

My former 1stLt taught some undergraduate history classes for UMUC at Al Taqaddum a couple years ago. He did it once a week or so; he was attached to the G-6 at the time and didn't have to leave the wire so it was possible. I never saw any in Afghanistan while I was there, but there were so many troops that never left their respective FOB's that I wouldn't be surprised if there was some higher education going on. I definitely took the time to study when I got the chance, but other than reading I didn't get the chance to work on my degree back then...
