Clueless liberal discussing economics

Sometimes when I speak about limited government, my liberal friends tend to say things like "well maybe we should just get rid of all the poor people" as if I don't care about poor people.
And when I propose cutbacks in spending, they look at me as if I don't care about the future of America. Of course I care about the future. I care a great deal. Its just that the liberal mindset doesn't believe in what I call tough love. Its like when you have kids and you think that buying them a 20k brand new car will help them succeed in school because they won't have to worry about maintaining it themselves and breaking down on the side of the road.

I can tell you that the less you do for someone the more capable that person becomes. This of course is only for those that cannot do for themselves. A mentally disabled person or physically disabled person is a different story, but when massive numbers of the population are on government support there is an epidemic.

You are entitled to equal protection under the law. Not equality. There will never be income equality and that is ok. Obama will almost always make millions of dollars per year. Al Gore will own his own jet and waste thousands of gallons of fuel jetting around the world and I will be resigned to motoring around in a 3 year old Corvette thinking I am hot shit. I do not envy Al Gore or Obama though. I am happy enough in my own life and do not want a dime of their income.
