I feel the need to clarify a couple of things that Publius suggested:
* in regards to your IDs, at least one must be a primary ID (government-issued with an expiration date, your name, photo and signature), the second ID must contain your name along with a signature or photo (like a signed credit card, a school ID, your social security card, etc.).
* SSN -- NOT required! This field is optional to fill out. Yes, it makes it easier for the CLEP service reps to locate your records if the SSN field is entered, but this is no longer required due to the identity theft issues and the fact that colleges no longer use your SSN as your student number. Remember, this testing program has been around for a long time, so they have made some adjustments.
* test payment -- make sure to know your test center's requirements. Some are set up to allow for any form of payment to CLEP (cash, check, credit card) whereas others do not want to deal with mailing CLEP cash and/or checks so will only allow credit cards.
* Score recipient not listed -- this option is only to be selected if the college/university you attend is NOT on the provided list of schools (by state). If you do not need to send official scores to any school, you will select your state of residence and then "Do Not Send" -- completely different from "Score Recipient Not Listed"
Rockhead, I have never heard someone say this exam only takes about "half an hour". The maximum time allotted once the first question comes up is 90 minutes, plus there will be non-test time used to view the tutorial screens (this can take new candidates 15+ minutes).
