I was accepted to Texas State University's PhD in Criminal Justice program. The program does have a tuition waiver and $26,000 stipend, which goes far in Texas, but I missed the application deadline for the graduate assistantship. I discovered this program at the last minute; and, luckily, I made it in time to apply. I'll just try for the assistantship next year. I'm so happy! I want to cry.
I wanted to share this with all of you, not only because Instantcert and this forum were instrumental in me finally finishing my BA, but because I wanted this to serve as an inspiration for others. EC and TESC have become well-known for their flexible programs, and education snobs might laugh at you and tell you that no one will take your degrees seriously. I even had someone imply that those who attend unranked schools don't learn anything. Well, I learned enough to get into a regionally-ranked university! It's not Harvard, but it's good enough for me. Oh, and the stipend is almost unbeatable. Even the colleges that have $30,000 stipends are usually in areas with a high cost of living.
