When you join IC you also get access to the specific exam feedback, this area can help with others experience in what helped them to study and what was important to know for the exam. The Peterson practice test are also recommended as a way to study, if you are military they are free others must pay. Free Clep Prep.com has also been useful to some.
The big 3 are fairly even it what credits they will accept it just varies a little, everyone has their favorites and it will depend on your credits and your major and personal preference which is better for you. If you can afford the application fee ~$75 each you can get unofficial transcript from any of them.
Advisers are not always the best to help with planning your degree, some don't like testing out, some want to make more money from you taking courses and some are just not as knowledgeable as they should be. Many of the people here cab be more help with plans until you are closer to your goal and ready to enroll.
