I think this is a different issue than whether or not the advisors at TESU can help. This is a problem that has been encountered many times, especially if Todd Silben is involved. Mot of the time, it's determined that taking PLA-200 at TESU is NOT required, but for some reason, it keeps coming back up.
I've been given four different ways to my goal via the counselor.
This has not been my experience.
collegechick - I don't have enough experience to help you. I know that all of my GenEd guesses have been ok, but don't come in exactly as I expected they would. The only safe bet I'd give you is TES-100 or any of the basic straighterline courses like english 101, chemistry/biology, intro to communications, aleks intermediate algebra. I haven't seen any pushback on those. MANY of the courses discussed here on the forum are either already listed on TESU's website (CLEP, DSST, ACP) or on the provider's website (SL, Study.com), so there's no need to worry about them.
Part of this is whether you're talking about credits you're trying to transfer in, or what you can take to finish your degree.
When you're transferring credits from another school, then you need to wait for the eval, because we can guess on many courses, but can't for plenty of others. I've come very close most of the time when people ask me to make a spreadsheet. The individual courses may end up in a different category than we expected (Psych 101 ends up in Gen Ed Electives instead of Knowledge of Human Cultures, while Humanities 101 is vice versa), but the number of credits in each category is right on. And, if I really don't know what something will come in as, I always say wait to see what they do with it. Better to err on the side of caution in that case.
If you're trying to figure out which courses to take, if it's a course that we know for certain and has been transferred into TESU MANY times, then you should be fine. If it's one that hasn't, then you need to get it pre-approved. For the BSBA, it's easy to tell people what they can take , because so many people have gotten that degree, and so many of these courses have been used. For different degrees, it really just depends. Better to work with the school at that point.
