You don't have to apply to take a TECEP, but the one-time application fee is $75 and the TECEP costs $114 as an enrolled student. If you take the TECEP as a non-matriculated student it costs $156. Unless it's the only TECEP you're going to take and you don't want a TESU degree, it makes sense to apply.
