Granted, I'm over here wrapping up a second bachelors...

Think about a discipline where an approved degree is required for licensing (e.g., nursing, engineering).  Excelsior makes an exception to their policy in these cases.

if someone was doing a 3rd bachelors for nursing they should just bite the bullet and do an in-person masters entry program like yale or columbia university has

and columbia accepts Excelsior Anatomy & Physiology exams and Microbiology exam to meet the prerequisites

If they had Yale or Columbia money.

There are actually many RN-MSN programs for those who have an associates in nursing and a non-nursing bachelors. There are also several direct entry MSN programs for those who aren't registered nurses. Direct entry nursing programs are expensive, and it's almost impossible to hold a full-time job in the first year or two.

Excelsior's BSN program is not a licensure program; you need to already be an RN. They do have BSN-level Excelsior exams to help save money.

Anyway, Excelsior's third degree policy is no longer easy to find on its website. This is what was told to me in an email and is what I always remembered to be their policy.

Quote:Students who wish to earn a third degree at the same level must petition the dean for that degree program, unless it's for our Associate degrees in Nursing.

These students do not need to appeal to the dean, since it's understood that all those who are interested in a career as a registered nurse must complete an Associate Degree in Nursing program that leads to RN Licensure.
