It could be because within the past couple of weeks I've already studied for, taken, and passed three other exams, and my brain simply is not ready for another one. It could also be because I purposely stayed away from any science type exams because I knew that was my weak point, and the IC cards have a lot of scientific stuff in them, such as neurotransmitters, axons, dendrites, etc. (none of which I can seem to wrap my brain around). The specific exam thread does not say a whole lot about that information, and I know IC tends to overwhelm one with information that is not on the test. Is that the case here? I'm really hoping so...
Anyway, another issue I'm having is in the drug names. If I am asked about the "known" names, I can do it, but my goodness, there are a ton of long names for these drugs that all sound the same. Let me clarify - if I am asked something about Ritalin, I'll know what it is. If they ask me something about Methylphenidate (the generic version), I won't have any idea what is being asked.
Thanks for any insight anyone can give me. As much as I truly am grateful to IC for their flashcards, this forum has been a lifesaver!
Don't get that wrapped around the axle when it comes to the specific in-depth names. Just study the cards and study the chart for the classes of drugs. Be sure to read every one of the Specific Exam Feedback posts for this exam as well.
There's no magic to this process, just tons of repetition. I don't have a photographic memory, I just went over and over and over and over the cards until I could recite the answers/explanations in my sleep. This takes time and determination but it IS something ANYONE can do...you just have to want it bad enough.
Trust me, when its all over with you'll be glad you did it. Lee
