I'm not sure where you keep hearing that, but it isn't true. At least not definitively. There are plenty of people who have graduated from one of the big 3 and then gone on to Ivy League schools or other highly competitive masters programs. When you say "these online ba schools" you may also be confusing nationally accredited online schools with TESU, COSC, and Excelsior which have superior accreditation.
A competitive admissions program at a school means its hard for everyone to get in. As long as your degree is regionally accredited you still meet the credentialing requirement. You can have an issue when you test out of courses since you don't earn a letter grade and some schools want to see a GPA. But there are also highly regarded schools that don't provide letter grades too. In those cases, its more about how well you do on your admissions tests, application essay, resume review, or whatever else they may ask for; basically, it is about how well you demonstrate that you're a good fit for their program.
If there is a specific masters program you want to get into, the best plan is to look at their admissions requirement and build your degree plan around that. For example, if they want to see a certain number of graded credits, or want graded credits for specific classes, then make sure you take some courses directly from an RA college or university in addition to testing out of the GenEds and such.
Working on: Debating whether I want to pursue a doctoral program or maybe another master's degree in 2022-23
