Schools LOOOOOVE that damn FAFSA. It's like their version of crack.

As I understand it, each person is allocated a certain $ amount in their lifetime that, if they are sufficiently poor, they can use towards studies for a Bachelor degree? Or is it something not everyone is eligible for?

There are federal and state grants which are income based.

I'll have to investigate this! Never look askance at free money.

This is for US students only. You file your FAFSA and then whatever forms your state requires. Some states provide grants only if you attend a school in your state.
