SDC Biology with Lab

I was just asked a question that I do not have the answer for, would appreciate any input.  A friend of mine is taking the SDC Biology with Lab and finished all the quizzes with a 99%.  He finished the labs with an overall percentage of 92.4%.  Without studying he was able to get a 54% on the practice exam and under the score it said he needed to get 70% to pass the course.  In another area, though, it said he needed at least 56% combined with course assignments to pass the course.  Can anyone clarify this?  He is in a rush right now and would love to jump into another class ASAP but isn't sure if he should put hours/days into studying for this final to bump his score up around 70% or if he is "safe" to pass the course, as is?  I haven't taken any courses at SDC yet so it remains a mystery to me.  Thanks in advance!
