I took english with comp, and studied alot of grammar rules prior to the test. I found that the test was much more writing revision than grammar, spelling and verb tense etc. Since 50% of the grade on the test is the composition, my guess is your comp was not up to snuff since you ran short on revision time.
I look at clep testing this way, It is not a trick, or dice roll, it is a chance to save some time and 1,000 dollars with each class. If you didnt pass, you are only out about 100 bucks plus the time you put into studying (which you get back as value when you have to take an english class, or Clep again). You still have gained some valueable knowlege. Clep testing is really a self design study program that validates your knowlege, not a quicky to somehow "get out" of the learining process.
Take the lump, suck it up, and try again. I have been trying to get my associates for 18 years, and I am 1 class and 1 clep away. You can do it! If failure beats you, you deserve to lose. best of luck!
