Has anyone done that? That would be way cheaper. If I could transfer in all credit hours then it'll save me a few thousand, although I'll have to come up with that all at once.

Yes, many, maybe even most, have. It's cheaper unless you do the 16 credits in one term thing, and honestly, a lot of people don't want to deal with that kind of workload in order to save a bit of money.
