I get points off for writing paper of less than 8 pages of content (excl chart + bib), so there's your LL.

Oh man! That stinks.  I think that’s always been hard for me.  I tend to get right to the point.  I always had to add fluff to my papers when I was working on my BA.  I was lucky a few times where I had professors who were fine with a shorter paper as long as I hit all the points.  But we never had rubrics back in those days.  That left a lot up to interpretation.
