Most HBCUs are adapting successfully. Occasionally a new institution that's a predominantly Black college even pops up, typically a small religious school associated with a predominantly Black church.
Another phenomenon that suggests HBCUs are not dying in general is that numerous other minority serving institutions, such as tribal colleges and heavily Hispanic serving institutions, are doing well and are often emphasizing their minority serving attributes.
