So we're really excited about that."
But it should take time. It's worth looking at the course lists for the on-campus programs in CS and HA in the UMPI catalog (with the caution that they're free to make changes for the YourPace versions). CS has a 42 credit main body of the major + 9 cr concentration + 3 cr Practical Learning Experience + 16 cr Mathematics Requirements.
That's a lot of material to develop CBE curricula for, and add staff capacity if needed. And it's materially a hard science. And UMPI is a small rural state college doing this as a sideline to its primary work. And its still fairly new to offering CS and HA degrees even on-campus.
UMPI also has few professors on campus to develop programs due to the size of the student body. None of the courses required are currently available in YourPace. YourPace has VERY limited math options. Essentially the only offer the math classes that are required for the degrees that they offer. Adding these 2 programs will take time, staff, and resources. Like I said, there have been rumors about CS coming to YourPace since 2020. Back then UMPI had a 5 year plan.....then Covid hit and everything for everyone around the world changed. Ii definitely wouldn't hold out waiting for CS to come to YourPace. If you're ready to start your degree, start it at TESU or WGU. You can always transfer if this program comes to YourPace and you haven't graduated.
UMPI is definitely a small, rural university. On campus, there's about 1100 students. And by rural they mean in the forest in the mountains. It's quite the haul to Presque Isle from any of the larger towns in Maine.
